(Toronto, April 9, 2001) – The Honourable Lloyd Axworthy, Canada’s former Minister of Foreign Affairs, has joined national law firm of Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP as a consultant on matters of trade and international affairs.

Mr. Axworthy is a renowned advocate of human security issues and most recently helped to establish the International Commission on Intervention and State Sovereignty. In his new role as consultant at Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP, Mr. Axworthy will work directly with the firm’s International Trade Law practice group to counsel both domestic and international clients on all aspects of international affairs. He will be based in Vancouver.
Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP’s International Trade Law practice group provides advice to corporations on a variety of issues ranging from matters involving NAFTA, trade advice and negotiation, anti-dumping and countervail (subsidies), import and export controls, customs classification and value for duty to government procurement and investment regulations. Mr. Axworthy's experience and knowledge will provide an added dimension to the advice available to the firm's clients.
